Do I need a transit visa if I'm a NZ Citizen travelling on UK passport via Shanghai?

Hi there,

I'm a NZ citizen traveling on a UK passport from New York to Phuket via Shanghai with a 9hr transit stop over. I'm not intending on leaving the airport. The details online say I need a transit visa however, the information provided to me by some of the questions sugges that I don't.

Which is correct?

Hi Tania, don't worry, visa is not required if you will not leave the airport.
