Can I apply for a tourist visa in person from Chinese embassy?

So i'm a American living and working in japan. I want to go to china for my vacation in sept can I just go to the Chinese embassy and pay all the money and get a 3 month visa?

Hi Ivan, as I know, applicants for China tourist visa in Japan should be done through travel agencies. You can not submit your visa application to the embassy in person. So, please contact a travel agency first.
