If you have a single entry visa and are in China, How can you apply for another visa to re-enter?

I have a single entry and i want to go on Vacation and return back to china for work on another visa, is this possible and if so do I apply before I leave china or in the other country e.g. Seoul?

I think you have to apply for a new China vis ain Hk, since I'm nopt sure whether China Embassy in Seoul issue visa to temporary visitors there.
