Temporary Residence Permit to L Visa

Hi. I studied in Shanghai for over a year, and right now I can still use my temporary residence permit until Sept.20. I plan to go back to Shanghai this early September, can I extend it for tourist reasons? or can I change it to an L visa, which I could extend for two consecutive months right? Is it gonna be easy?

yes, you can apply for a visa extension at Shanghai PSB for tourism purpose. But generally, you will get a 30 days visa, and you may be asked to provide a bank statement with at least RMB 20,000. So, good luck.

Thanks Kyle. Is the bank statement always mandatory or it differs per city? and do i need to present any itinerary, plane ticket, etc? I plan to extend it twice.. but i'm afraid that they're gonna start being suspicious of me. And.. for example my temp residence permit ends on Sept 20.. how many days before that date should I start applying?

I think you may only able to extend it once time. The bank statement is mandatory as I heard by my friends days ago. You can submit your application for extension a week before your residence permit expires.
