About:China Transit Visa

US Citizen. Can I also get a 24 stay permit at Beijing airport?

So I will be flying from Seoul to Beijing and onto North Korea with less than 24 hour layover. Same rule apply for me? I'd like to get a 24 hour stay permit at the Beijing airport without any prior visa application or fees.

I will have a copy of my North Korea tickets and Visa.

The Chinese consulate is saying I should get a transit visa but those are expensive.

I then understand I can get a tourist visa in North Korea for my return to China. Comments.....please....

In principle, you don't need any visa or permit if you won't walk out of the airport during the less than 24 hours transit in Beijing airport. Even if you will leave the airport, you can just apply for a stay permit at the airport. However, all depends on the immigration officers at the airport. It's hard to give a fixe answer for this.

And I am afraid you will be not able to get a China visa in Noth Korea as a temporary visitor.
