China visa requirements, What if air ticket is bought online?

Does this mean that to go to China, one can't buy the ticket online but has to go through a travel agency? My friend already bought her ticket online, as she wasn't aware of this requirement.

For China visa application, a photocopy of the roundtrip airline ticket is required. If she has already bought the ticket online, she can try to provide the proof for air ticket booking. Good luck, it depends on the visa officers actually.

You can use an e-ticket, but for a tourist visa you must go to a travel agent to apply for the visa. You cannot apply for a tourist visa at the Embassy. At least that is what I was told when I tried to apply at the Embassy. The travel agent next to the embassy charges approximately twice the price quoted on the embassy website to pass the forms which you download from this site and complete. You had better confirm the length of the visa when you apply at the travel agent. Sometimes the length of stay can be as short as seven days.
