walk to tiananmen square fm forbidden city?

Could you please advise me the best route if I want to walk from Forbidden City to Tiananmen Square? How far would that be? It is because I'll be traveling with my elderly mom.

If you want to walk to the Forbidden City, you'd better prepare a map first.You need to go along the Xihuamen Street to reach the end of the road and turn to the east side. Then walk for a few minutesa and you can see the Forbidden City.
