You need your original passport, a fulfilled visa application form attached with a passport-sized photo, Invitation letter from your friend in China enclosed with his/her valid visa, residence permit and passport information page, or a copy of his/her Chinese ID card if Chinese, a round-way air ticket. Bank statement is needed only if the visa officers deem it necessary.
