tibet visa requirements?

We are 2 friends living in Dhaka and wanting to go to Tibet, do I need a China visa and then a tibet permit, I am British and my friend is American.

yes, you need to get a China visa and then the Tibet Travel Permit. But from reading feedback of many applicants on this site, I know that Tibet Travel Bureau stopped issuing the permit during July and August. Also, there is no news released about when they will start to issue this permit again. You can contact a China travel agency for the latest information.
