It is not too far from HK to Dongguan. You can take train from Hung Hom, Hong Kong to Dongguan directly.2

For me, it is the best if you take by train,,,, it's take 1:45 hours from Dongguan station to Humhom station.
we try by Van, almost 2hours from Changping town to Hongkong Airport
