Does a Canadian who is visiting the USA and applying for an L visa there need to follow #7?

I'm a Canadian citizen who's visiting family in the USA and we are going to China together, so I need to apply for a tourist visa. The problem is that I don't have a certificate for permit for residence, work, study or a valid US visa. Do I really need those? If so, how can I obtain them?

If you are not required visa to reside in US, you can submit your China visa application together with your family's. It is not difficult for you to get one.
