Do we need visa to travel from Shanghai to Hong Kong and back ?

Hello,

During this summer we will be in Shanghai and we want to travel to Hong Kong for 3 days. The return flight to Europe is from Shanghai airport.

My question is: do we need a visa to visit Hong Kong from Shanghai? or, being an inland trip, this is no longer needed?

Good news for you! Romania citizens are exempted from visa to HK for up to 90 days, so you need no visa to HK. You need a double entry China visa for Shanghai.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. The information is very useful.
One more thing please: if from Shanghai will travel to Hong Kong, then from Hong Kong to Macao and last from Macao to Shanghai....do we still need a double entry visa to China or we need a visa for 3 entries? Do we need a visa from Hong Kong to Macao? Do we need a visa from Macao to Shanghai?

You can also travel to Macao for 90 days free of visa. It is ok to go back to Shanghai from Macao. Leaving for HK and Macao counts one leaving from mainland China. So, still a double entry China Tourist visa is enough.

Hi again,
one more question please: we have booked a roundtrip flight from Bucharest to Beijing.
We are travelling with a student visa, with one entry.
When leaving from Beijing to Hong Kong, I understand that no visa is required, but when travelling back from HK to Beijing, to board the return flight home, is it ok to just change terminals at Beijing airport ? we will not re-entry China mainland, just to get connection with the flight Beijing-Bucharest, so a double entry visa will not be needed.

If you have ticket, stay in the airport transit area and depart within 24 hours, then no visa is required for this transit.
