a chinese woman and son are interviewed for a visa to usa under false pretences as married?

a merriage of convience done in China last year for the sole purpose of entering into USA is this OK for any women seeking refuge in the USA? Wanting to leave her country with her son who is not adopted in any way to the American citizen is this done as a temporary visit of how long can they stay in USA?
