Arrival time

Hi, I am only in Xian for two days and i am doing the terracotta warriors and the city etc on the second day.

Is it possible to do mt huashan in 1 day if i leave xian north at 10am? My train arrives into xian at 9am, so i could go straight to xian north and get the bullet train and be at mt hushan by midday.
I emailed my hostel and they said that this wouldnt be possible as this wouldnt give me enough time to climb the mountain.
What are people's experience of this?
