About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

i want to visit my girl friend,i am told i have to book flight before i can get visa,

It is not necessary for you to book flight before applying for a tourist/visit visa to China. Requirements you need are your valid passport and a copy of its information page; Completed and truly filled Visa Application Forms (Form V2011A); a recent-taken passport photo, which is glued or stapled on the application form.
