Affadavit of Income instead of Bank Deposit for visa?

I am an American with a Thai retirement visa. I got an Affadavit of Income at the American embassy instead of having 1,000,000 baht (one million baht) in my Bangkok Bank account. That Affadavit proved that I had annual income exceeding that amount and the Thai Immigration granted me a retirement visa. Is that affadavit acceptable to apply for a tourist visa to China?
