affidavit of single state for US citizen to marry someone in china

I am in Los Angeles and want to marry my girlfriend in tianjin China. Anybody know the process i must go through to get the affidavit of single state. This is what i know so far.
I draft the affidavit, get it notarized , and send it to secretary of state to get it stamped. Once i get it back from the secretary of state, i take it to the china consulate of los angeles to get it authenticated and then i can take it to china and then get married.
Anybody know if i'm missing any steps in between. I emailed the us consulate in beijing about this and they said anything notarized in the US won't work and said i must get the affidavit of single state in china?
can anyone provide some insights or details on this?
thanks in advance

I think your steps are complete. In fact, once the China consulate of LA has authenticated your affidavit, it is effective and you can take it to China to get married. However, pay attention that you need a Chinese version and official translating is must. In China, the original copy in foreign language is ineffective. Good luck!
