What proof do I give for a China visa?

I want toi visit shenzen, china from hong kong by rail for day trip. What proof do I give for visa. I have my daughter living as resident in hong kong

I think you may just apply for an on-arrival visa at the entry port of Shenzhen with the following documents if you will just make a one-day trip to Shenzhen:
1. Your valid passport
2. fill a visa application form when you are at the port
3 a photo taken when you are at the port
