Passport space for China tourist visa

I saw in a previous post that two blank pages in the passport are required to get a tourist visa to China - does this mean two full untouched pages without stamps? Why is this please?

Thanks
Susan

Yes, you get it. One page is for the visa stamps, and the other is for the stamp of extension of stay in China in case that you will stay for a longer time in China.
