About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

How can I apply as a first-time applicant if I don’t have a valid Chinese passport anymore?

Thanks Bobby for your reply. How can I apply as a first-time applicant if I don’t have a valid Chinese passport anymore? The corner of my old Chinese passport was cut since the first visa application. My previous visa was issued at NY consulate in 2005 through a travel agent. And as you know I can’t find my old US passport. Please guide.

Could you please tell me wether it is the first time you apply for a chinese visa?Your words "how can I apply as a first-time applicant" is contradictory to the words"My previous visa was issued at NY consulate in 2005 ".I am a little bit confused. If you are the first-time applicant, you need to submit the original Chinese passport and a photocopy of the passport's information/photo page, and extension page;If you have obtained a China visa before, when applying for visa with a new US passport, you should submit a photocopy of the original passport's information/photo page and the page containing the previous Chinese visa. Since your old US passport have been lost, you can also apply a visa only with your new US passport.

Sorry for the confusion Melissa. The problem is that I’m unable to submit a photocopy of the original passport's information/photo page and the page containing the previous Chinese visa as you mentioned, because I lost my old US passport. To clarify: I was born in China. I did obtain Chinese visa before. Now what I do have: my new US passport, my old Chinese passport which corner was cut off from first visa application. Also I can provide the dates and locations of my previous Chinese visa were issued according to my mother’s passport, since we obtained our visa together through a travel agent. Please advise.

1.Since you have lost your old US passport with the China visa, so you can use the new US passport to apply a China Visa as a first-time applicant. You need to submit the original Chinese passport and a photocopy of the passport's information/photo page, and extension page (if applicable).
2.Since you said the corner of your old Chinese passport was cut, so I suggest you go to the embassy or consulate in person with your old Chinese passport and other required documents, and enquiry the officer directly.
