I am marrying my girlfriend in China Im a Canadian Citizen. How long can I stay after marriage?

Once married how long can I stay in China? My wife would want me to stay in China while waiting for her application to Canada. Is it possible for me to stay longer than 1 month in China? Or do I need to apply multiple visa and go in and out of China? China to Hong Kong to CHina. What is the best way for me to stay longer in China?
