About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

some years ago, tourist visa for Japanese passport holder was free. Is it still the same now ?

Japanese citizens who hold ordinary passports are exempt from Chinese visa if they enter China for sightseeing, trade, visiting relatives or friends and stay in China for not more than 15 days. But if you plan to stay longer, you need to apply and pay for a China visa.
