About:China Visa on Arrival

Will I have to buy a special Shenzhen visa every time I enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong?

Hi, I am Canadian and has received a double entry Chinese visa. However, I intend to enter Shenzhen about 7 times in June from Hong Kong to visit friends living in Shenzhen but my visa only allows two visits. What is my best option? Will I have to buy a special Shenzhen visa every time I enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong? Can I buy a multiple entry Shenzhen visa at the border?

You may apply for another multiple China visa from the visa office of PRC in Hk SAR. At the entry port of Shenzhen, you may only get a single entry Shenzhen visa with a duration of 5 days.

Thanks Cora,

But if I apply for a multiple entry visa in HK, it will still only allow a maximum of two entries and takes four days to process and will cost much more than getting two visas at the Shenzhen immigration border office. Am I correct that the cheapest, quickest and most convenient option is to get a visa at the Shenzhen immigration office every time I visit Shenzhen?

My opinion is that after you enter Shenzhen twice with the present visa, you may apply for another multiple entry China visa in Hk, with wich you can enter Shenzhen for unlimited times within the validity. I think to apply for a multiple entry China visa in Hk will be cheaper and simpler than to apply for 5 single-entry Shenzhen visa every time when you enter Shenzhen.

I thought that if I apply for a multiple entry visa in HK, it still only allows two visits because I am a tourist and not a businessman; is this correct? If a multiple entry visa allows unlimited entries within the validity, then that would be perfect.

If you can provide proof of frequent travel to Shenzhen, and you are granted a multiple entry visa. You will be permitted to enter Shenzhen with the visa any time with the validity.

Cora, what kind of proof is required? I am mainly travelling to Shenzhen to meet my girlfriend and we intend to travel between Hong Kong and Shenzhen on a number of days (maybe 7 times) within a two week period. My girlfriend is a Chinese national. It seems that my best option is to just get a visa every time I enter Shenzhen as we would not be staying overnight in Hong Kong and therefore, I cannot leave my passport for four days at the Chinese Embassy in Hong Kong to process a multiple entry visa. Thanks for your assistance.

Why not just stay in one place for sometime? why will you transfer between Shenzhen and HK so frequently? As I know, the room rate of the hotels in Shenzhen is much cheaper than that of Hk. If you can't stay in Hk overnight, you may stay in Shenzhen. I'm not sure whether the immigration offices at both Shenzhen and Hk may allow you so frequent entry and exit during such a short period. Kindly advise you well arrange your plan again.
