Visa Requirements for Hong Kong to Guangzhou and back again

We are a family of Australian citizens wishing to visit Hong Kong for 3 days and then spend around 8 days in Guangzhou before returning to Hong Kong for our return flight back to Australia. I understand that we need to apply for a tourist visa for entry into China. As we are independent travellers, we have yet to book our accommodation in Guangzhou. I am currently completing the Visa Application and noted that it wants details of where we will be staying. Does anyone know if this is going to cause problems?

It will cause problems, Australian applicants who apply for tourist visa should provide tour itinerary or flight and hotel booking. Please book your accommodation in Guangzhou in advance, then write the details of contact inforamtion of where you will be staying.
