Invitation Letter for a Tourist Visa - Urgent

I want to apply for a tourist visa to china. My friend in Beijing will send me an invitation letter. Before I produce it to the Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka with my application, does it need to be approved by the Foreign Affairs office in Beijing? If so, where exactly does my friend go to get it approved in Beijing? And what is the procedure? How long will it take?

If only for the application of a China tourist visa, the privation invitation letter from your friend in Beijing and copies of your friend's residence permit in China and passport or China ID card are enough. No need to have to lettet approved by any Chinese government unit.

Harishini it is very important to get it approved from the foreign affairs office. I have my chinese wife in china and she tried to do like this and get it approved but it was not easy they dnt give for single entry . but after we married now I am here in China because I have my own relatives .

for single entry visa your invitation letter will not be approved as you have to go with 5 people as a tour .
