About:Chinese Embassy in Australia
do i need visa for 2 days stay in china on my way to india? i have an australian passport.

If you will transit at Shanghai Hongqiao or Pudong airport, I think you don't need a visa. Or you do have to apply for a China transit visa for this.0

No you can stay up to 72 hours as long as you have ongoing tickets. if you are staying other than at a hotel you will also need to go and register at a police station0
