About:China Work Visa

I have just been informed that I do not qualify for a Chinese work visa because I am 71 years old.

Is this legal and enforced?

Can this "requirement" be waived if in excellent health and highly passionate about teaching ESL in China?

If it is the embassy where you submit the visa application who said this. I think it's true. Since in China, the legal retirement age is 60 for a man and 50-55 for a woman.
