Do I need a visa if I only want to stay in China for 2 days?

You do need a visa for this, unless you transit through Pudong Airport or Hongqiao Airport of Shanghai, provided you hold a valid passport, visa for the onward countries, final destination tickets and have booked seats, and stay in Shanghai for less than 48 hours.
