You do have to apply for a China tourist visa. It takes 4 working days if you submit all the required documents.

Normally, you have to present these documents:
1. Your valid passport with more than 6 months validity remianing and more than 2 blank pages.
2. a truely and fully filled China visa application form affixed with a recent-taken passport-size photo.
3. Previously used China visa in old or new passport if any.
4. residece permit, valid visa or entry record of the country where you are living now.
5. round-way air ticket.
