Is it possible to obtain an L-Visa without first making an online appointment? i was hoping to apply for a tourist visa within the week. but i understand it may be hard/ impossible without first having made an online appointment, several months before.

If you are holding ordinary passport of Australia, you should apply for the China visa through the China Visa Application Service Center in Brisbane in fact, since the China Consulate in Brisbane only accept visa applicatin from diplomatic and official passport holders now.

You are right an online appointment seems necessary even if you apply for the visa through the visa center. However, you can consult the center by calling +61-7-3031-6300
