About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Applying for China visa on a British passport

I am going to Beijing for 2 days at the end of April en route back to England. I have been in Japan for 20 months and want to know the quickest and easiest way to get a Chinese visa, either by visiting the consualte/embassy or by post. I am able to go to Osaka and have time to sort it out there but I will only have 3 days in Tokyo and think this might be pushing it a bit. Can anyone enlighten me on the quickest and easiest way to do this please.
Also, will having a re-entry visa for Japan effect it in anyway? - Just a thought.

You can apply for China tourist visa at China consulate in Osaka, the application by post is not accepted, you'd better go to Osaka in person to apply for visa, it takes 4 working days for regular service, if you want to pick up as soon as possible, you can apply for rush service of 1 working day processing or express service of 2-3 working days processing.

The requirements are: your British passport, fill in visa application form V.2011A and form V.2011B, one passport photo, flight ticket from Japan to Beijing to England, hotel booking in Beijing, the valid Japan visa or residence permit

What is written above has now changed. I followed your instructions and went to the Chinese Embassy in Osaka and they stopped issuing visas from the consulate in March 2012. I then had to go to an independent travel agent in Kyoto and it takes up to a week to get it done and cost 9000 yennies. So please don't go to the consulate, go to a local travel agent and see what they can do for you. JTB weren't able to do it in Kyoto, I had to mission and find an independent place! Good luck!

Thanks for that info Patrick, you have saved me a trip. You wouldn't remember the name or location of the agent in Kyoto who applied for your visa would you?

I can't remember the name of the place - but if you go to JTB, I think they should have details of a place that will process the application for you... i wish i still had the deets for you.
