Can American citizen get chinese visa from India?

I was born in Beijing China. But I am holding American passport. I lan come to visit Indian for 4 months, then I go to China from India. I like to know, Can I get Chinese visa from India before I go to China?

You can try to apply for Chinese visa from India before you go to China, however, I can't sure you will get visa according to the rule: An applicant holding a passport other than Indian passport should provide the original and a copy of their permanent residence or work permit which should be valid for at least half a year (except for those who are visa or permit exempt for residing or working in India);

You can always apply for visa, but now it will depends of your visit purpose, if you have 6 months indian visa, no need a residence permit to apply for chinese visa or else they will ask you for a residence proof regarding your stay i india
