Do I need a Chinese visa for 48 hours business visa to Shanghai?

I want to join my husband on his business trip to Shanghai. We will be in Shanghai just 48 hours, coming from Detroit and returning to Detroit. We are both US citizens. He has a Chinese visa. I do not. Do I need one?
