I am a Dutch student studying in South-Korea, though according to this website it is not possible for someone like me to apply for a Chinese visa in South-Korea with my current resident card. I was wondering whether it is possible to apply for a Chinese visa in Japan (Tokyo), whether it's possible within 4 - 5 days to get it and where exactly I can apply for it since it's really necessary to apply for a Chinese visa since tickets have already been booked. Yes, it is  possible for you to obtain a China visa in Japan even if you don't have its resident card. Obtaining a China visa in Japan is much easier than in South Korea. In Tokyo, you can go to consular office of China embassy to apply for the visa. ( add: 3-4-33 Moto-Azabu 3-Chome, Minato-Ku, Tokyo). It usually takes 4 working days to process a visa. But if you are in a hurry, you can apply with 1 working day processing or 2-3 working days processing service with additional fee.

Hi, I am also trying to figure out if it's possible to get a China visa as a foreigner who is not holding a Japanese residence card. Diode, it's possible to get a China visa as a foreigner who is not holding a Japanese residence card. I'm from USA, I got a single entry L visa with 30 days stay duration in Tokyo in April, 2011, I didn't have a Japanese residence card (Japanese alien registration card)
