can you renewextend a visa?

My girlfriend is leaving next Wednesday for China, staying till january 17th.  She currently has a visa that expires January 10th.  Can she renew or extend her current visa for the additional 7 days, or does she have to get a new visa?

Yes, she can extend her current visa for additional 7 days at the local Exit-Entry Administrative Department of Public Security Bureau after she enters China. She can't do it in Canada. In fact, the exit-entry administrative bureau will issue her a new visa with 0 entry and 7 or 10 days stay duration.
