Extend my Study Visa to a Tourist Visa!

Hi, I’m in Shanghai studying right now and my Study visa expires in the end of January. But at that time i’m going to travel in China, therefor I need to extend my visa of one month! I have been here 1,5 years now. It must be possible to situated in Shanghai apply for- and also get a new Visa (tourist), right? Someone told me the only way is to go to Hong Kong, because I have to leave the country first. Please help me! Thanks :)

yes, you can try to apply for a new tourist visa with 30 days stay duration at the Exit-Entry Administrative Bureau of Shanghai Public Security Bureau. In fact, the exit-entry administrative bureau will generally issue 10 days tourist visa to students to give them time to make packages and preparations to exit China.

Oh thank you for quick reply and good information! What about 90 days tourist visa? Cause I know that as soon as the new visa is ready, the old one expires, which means I can’t apply for it until mid January.. If it’s possible to extend with 90 days I could apply for it earlier and don’t have to deal with it in the end of my stay here at the same time as final exams and such. :) Thanks!

Malin, it is hard for you to get a 90 days extension stay duration. You have to wait for the mid of January to apply for 30 days extension
