F to L visa

I am in China on a 180 day F visa. I have finished by volunteer work and would like to stay for a month. Do I have to convert it to an L visa? Also, I have been here almost three months. Do I have to make a border run?

There is no need to change the visa type from F to L. What's the duration of stay of your current F visa and how many entries does it allow?

How long does each entry allow you to stay in China or what's the duration of stay per entry?
Whatever, you need to travel out of China before the last date of your maximum duration of stay.
If you do't want to travel out of China, you can go to local PSB to extend the current visa. The officers will then allow you to stay in China for another 30 days. But in this case, your current 180 day multiple F will turn invalid.
