upgrade from tourist visa to student visa

Question

I have 7 months remaining on my tourist travel visa. Am thinking about going to China as a student. Do I have to fill out all the forms again? Can I just fill out the supplementary form only. Can I have both travel and student visa at the same time since I have 7 months left of the tourist travel visa.?

You can't have both travel and student visa at the same time. Once you apply for a new student visa, your previous travel visa expires automatically. there is 7 months remaining on your tourist visa, it is not the DURATION OF EACH STAY xxx DAYS AFTER ENTRY on your visa. You can't stay in China for 7 months continuously. Please apply for a student visa.
