About:Chinese Embassy in New Zealand

Just to make sure, I have printed out forms to apply for Visa to China. Handwriting is ok, isn't it?

I have been to China before, so had been granted a visa. However it was on the older passport. I am keeping the previous passport before the current one, so will not be able to provide a copy of the old visa to China. Is it a problem? We intend to just go to few bigger cities in China, Beijing , Shanghai etc. So will stay for 10-15 days the longest. How is the chance to get this kind of tourist visa?

If we drop the applications off in person, the cost of 4 of us would be $90 x 4 for double and $60 x 4 for single entry? Plus a paid courier bag to send back our passports? And is it ok to pay with credit card (providing credit card details?) Or what is other modes of payment? Thanks

Yes, the handwritten visa application forms are accepted by Chinese embassy.

You said "I have been to China before, so had been granted a visa. However it was on the older passport. I am keeping the previous passport before the current one, so will not be able to provide a copy of the old visa to China." You don't lose the old passport, why don't you provide previous passport with China visa?
You should provide previous passport because you have previously been granted a Chinese Visa but you are applying the Chinese Visa using a new passport

If you are Non-New Zealand passport holders and drop the applications off in person, the cost of 4 applicants is $90 x 4 for double and $60 x 4 for single entry. If you apply visa by mail or by courier, you should also enclose a self-addressed pre-paid return courier bag or envelope with applications for the safe return of passports. The Handling Service Fee Per Mail is $15.

1) Bank cheque or company cheque, made payable to "Chinese Embassy".

2) EFTPOS, Credit Card (Only available at the reception.)

Thanks. Re older passport with China visa on it in my previous question. Sorry if I confused you. I mean, it was in the older than older passport. I last visited China in about year 2003 or probably 2004. Since then I have renewed 2 passports, 1 expired in 2009, then the current one which I am going to apply a China visa. I do not keep that older passport, only the one before this new passport. So I can't provide any copy of the China visa I had been granted before. IS it ok? Does it make any difference if I had been to China (thus granted a China visa) and if I had not?

Is a copy of an itinerary of a tour package sufficient (dates are still flexible though), or an address of a relative will be more helpful? Or a copy of our tickets to China (Jakarta-Beijing)? Thanks

So, I can drop our application in person (cost 4 x Nzd 90)and then your Consular office will send them back in a paid courier bag to us?
How long the process will take? And how is the chance to get an L visa please? It is hard to decide if we buy a ticket first without knowing if we will get a visa yet.

If you had been China and provide the previous passport with old China visa, it is greatly possible for you to get a tourist visa. It can increase the chance of obtaining a China visa.

Now, I know you have been China in 2003 or 2004, however, you can't provide any document to prove you have been China. On the Section 4 of the visa application form V.2011A, you will be asked 'have you ever visited China before? If ''Yes', please specify date, places and purpose of the recent visit." Please don't worry, you can write that you have never been China, then the previous passport will not be required.

a copy of an itinerary of a tour package and the flight itinerary are sufficient for tourist visa application. If you don't want to join a tour, you can provide the round-trip flight tickets (ticket to China and ticket to exit China), if you stay in a relative's house, the invitation letter from the relative together with the copy of his passport or Chinese ID card is required.

If you drop off the application in person and ask the embassy to mail your passport back, besides the $90 x 4 for double entry visa, you also need to pay $15 for the handling service fee if you include 4 applications in the same pack to mailing back.
