It's almost impossible for you to get a China permanent resident permit to settel down in China, which requires direct investment in China, stable investment in China for three years in a row, and has a sound taxation record. You may try to get a muitiple-entry visa to stay as long as possible.

Well, I'm not clear how much money would be enough. But it should be a very large amount and you have to do GREAT contribution to China. Till now, no more than 50 foreigners have obtained the China permanent resident permit since the foundation of PRC. So just forget about it.
A multiple entry visa is more appliable for you. It is very easy for you get a multiple entry L or F visa, which allows you to stay in China for1-2 years. You can extend the duration of stay before the expiration.
Or if you meet one of the conditions listed on this page, you could apply for a Family Visit Visa/Residence Permit: https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/family-visit-permit.htm
