About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

I'm Canadian, what documents are needed to marry a Chinese national?

Good day; I am returning to China at the end of Sept. I will be marrying a Chinese national. I need to know what is required of me in terms of documentation I should bring with me. I am divorced in Canada. So, I must bring that certificate. I would like to know what else is required. Also, is it necessary to have documents translated into Chinese. As well, Must documents be notarized by an accredited lawyer Canadian. Thanking you in advance for your help and counsel in this matter. Kindest regards, Colin J. Childs

If you live in Ottawa region, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland,
the whole procedure is:
1. make an affidavit of marital status certificate being notarized by a notary office
2. then affidavit of marital status and divorce certificate certified by the Legal Advisory Division of Department of Foreign Affairs of Canada (125 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Tel: 613-9950119) or the Secretaire de la Chambre des Notarires de Quebec (800 Place Victoria, Montreal,Tel:514-8791793).
3. affidavit of marital status and divorce certificate authenticated by Embassy of China in Ottawa

Documents for authentication must be translated into English or Chinese.
