can you apply for a pick up visas from a country which is not your home country?

My partner and I are traveling to china (shanghai, Beijing, hong kong) in November. I am Australian and he is a new zealander. We are not going back to our home countries before the trip, can we apply for a pick up our visas in London?

An applicant holding a passport other than UK passport should provide the original and a copy of his or her permanent residence or work permit which should be valid for at least half a year (except for those who are visa or permit exempt for residing or working in the UK). Therefore, I can only say that you have to try your luck in London. Sometimes, China embassy in London will issue China visa to temporary visitors in UK.
