Hi everyone, is it difficult for a Chinese citizen to obtain a transit visa to the U.S??

My girlfriend and I would like to visit Jamaica. I am a Canadian Citizen and she is a Chinese citizen. Our flight will have a stopover in Chicago and want to know if it is difficult for her to obtain a transit visa for the U.S? And what the requirements are?

I’m not clear if it is difficult to get a US transit visa. It depends on the visa officer. Here are the requirements for your reference:
1.Valid Passport
2.The DS-160 application form confirmation page
3.One photograph: Two inches square (51mm x 51mm) color photograph, less than 6 months old, against a white background, full frontal view. Click for more information on photo requirements. Please use scotch tape to stick your photo on the front cover of your passport.
4.Original Bank Receipt for Application Fee: The 938 RMB application fee may be paid at any CITIC Bank branch in China. Please glue or tape the application fee receipt onto the bottom of DS-160 form confirmation page.
5.Passports containing all previous U.S. visas if any, even if expired.
6.Evidence of Transit: eg. a copy of your itinerary/air ticket reservations showing your need to transit the United States.
7.Permission to Enter Another Country: eg. visa or entry permit, unless the alien submits satisfactory evidence that such advance permission is not required.
8.Proof of Ties to China: Proof of economic, social, family, or other commitments that will help demonstrate your intent to return to China after a temporary stay in the U.S.
