About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

Shanghai Airport transfer

I will be flying from Haneda (Japan) -> Hong Qiao T1, then I need to travel to Pu Dong T1 for my transfer. Both with China Eastern.

Some qns:
1. I believe I have to collect my luggage at Hong Qiao then check it in again at Pu Dong right?
2. I will only reach Hong Qiao at 4:10pm, has the metro's opening hours been extended from 6:30am-9:00pm already? I heard they had extended it by July?
3. If I do take the bus, when are the peak hours when there can be a traffic jam? Looking at my timing, will I meet with one?
4. Metro can be slower, but am I right to say at least it is reliable and should take the metro instead of the bus?

I have around 5 hours to buffer me from getting lost and recheck-in. Should be more than enough for the slower metro huh.

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, you should collect baggage at Hongqiao and then recheck-in at Pudong. The metro between these two airprots will be in service until to 9:00. You are right that it will be traffic peak time from 5pm, so taking metro should be a better choice, which will take 2 hours on the way.
