Is a birth certificate a must have to get a China visa? Is there any way around it?

I do not have a copy of my daughters birth certificate because it was destroyed but I do have her passport. Is there any way of getting a visa for her even without the birth certificate?

If your daughter has Chinese descent, one of parent is Chinese citizen, the birth certificate is required for China visa application. Can you tell me more information about you and your wife's nationality?

As I know, if a child with Chinese descent was born in China, and his/her one parent or both parents have gained USA passport or Green Card, the child should apply for China visa to go to China. The birth certificate is required for China visa application.

The birth certificate is not required if both parents are U.S. citizen and you or your wife is not Chinese.
