Will travelling be problem during Mid Autumn Festival this year? Is it like Chinese New Year?

We will need to travel on the weekend of Mid Autumn Festival (Sept.12). One person needs to take a plane from Chengdu to Beijing. Will it be difficult to make a reservation only 3 days in advance? Or should he make the reservation now? The rest of us are planning to visit the Bamboo Forest 竹海(宜宾) and then go to Langzhong 阆中 via 大足. Will buses and trains be very crowded? Will we need to make a reservation for hotels in advance? Is it possible to get a private car with a driver to take us to these places from Chengdu?

Chinese New Year is a long holiday for Chinese people during which time most people move around. while Mid Autum Festival is only a short holiday with 3 days. There are not so many people moving around as during the Chinese New Year. Therefore, you have no need to book the hotel now. However, the bus and train may be still crowded. I suggest you join a local tour for travelling in Chengdu which will arrange the transport for you.
