About:Chinese Embassies in Asia

As a UK citizen can I apply for a Chinese Tourist Visa in Kuala Lumpur.

I am travelling in Philippines at the moment, but will be back in Kuala Lumpur before my flight to Shanghai. Can I apply for my visa in KL and what documents do I need - where is the Embassy - how long does it take and what is the cost please.

Hi John Nash. thank you for your kind response. I am travelling throughout SE Asia for the last 5 months so cannot go back to the UK to apply for the Chinese visa there. I am in Malaysia on the 90 day tourist visa, not working. You seem to be saying that this excludes me from applying for a tourist visa for China while I am in Kuala Lumpur. Also, I am trying to follow your instructions by making an appointment online but the site says that it's not available now. Has this changed recently maybe?

Jane Taylor, yes, the visa rule has changed, since April 6, 2011, applicants have to submit visa application to CVASC in KL in person and go to embassy to take an interview. Now, you don't need to book online appointment, please go to the CVASC to submit visa application directly.

If you show the entry records and visas to previous countries in Southeast countries, and explain that you travel in SE Asia for the last 5 months, I guess you can get a visa to China.

An applicant holding a passport other than Malaysian passport should provide the original and a copy of his or her permanent residence or work permit which should be valid for at least half a year (except for those who are visa or permit exempt for residing or working in the Malaysia).

If you doesn't satisfy the above condition, your application in Kuala Lumpur will be denied. You need to go to CVASC in Kuala Lumpur to apply for China tourist visa rather than China embassy in KL. It takes 4 working days, the procedures are:
1. prepare all required documents
2. complete visa application forms
3. make online appointment for applicaiton submission through website of http://www.visaforchina.org/KUL_EN/
4. obtain queue number upon arrival at teh CVASC and submit your application when your number is called.
5. return to the CVASC on the collection date
6. pay at the CVASC when your queue number is called.
