Can I apply for a Resident Permit (Extension) in Shenzhen?

Good Morning,

I am currently working for a Foreign Company in China (Shenzhen) and have a Resident Permit for 1 Year (2nd one). As I am going to stop working for this Foreign Company I need to Apply for a Renewel of the Resident permit in October. Is that possible If I do not work for that Company by than? What are the Requirements? How to Apply? Please let me know or advise me what to do.

Thanks,

Arne

If you will not work for your employed company by then, you can not extend your residence permit. If that is a case of working for a new company, you need to apply for new work visa.

Arne, Mr.johnnash is right, now the visa rule for family visit has changed, foreigners married a Chinese citizen can apply for long-term family visit visa or residence permit according to the stay duration, if you don't believe it, you can refer to https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/family-visit-permit.htm to read more information about it.

Hi Alvin, I do understand. Thank you. However, I am not sure if I will have another job here by than. If not (Worsted case scenario). What other options would I have? Or another Visa? Any tips are welcome. I am married with a Chinese and we are expecting a Child soon...

You can apply for a one year Residence Permit for Family Visit if you have a Chinese wife. The marriage certificate, her household registration sheet, the pregnancy certificate are required.

If you want to apply for Permanent Residence Permit, your marriage should lasts for 5 years. If you apply for one year temporary residence permit, the 2 years marriage is Ok. It is possible for you to get the one year residencepermit.

Dear John, Once again, thank you for the reply. However, I can not find any information about this 2 Year period on the official website from the Local Government. I am happy if it is correct. However, have any idea where to find the government information to back this up?
Thanks, Arne
