About:Dress Code in China

I am traveling with a group of teachers to study the Chinese culture and schools.

What is appropriate to wear in the schools as I am observing the students and teachers. Also, are there specific types of shoes that I should not wear as they would be seen as insulting or inappropriate? What should I wear to dinner at night? I am a female. Thank you!

It seems no special on shoes and no problem to wear 'proper' clothes in common sense. Vest only with straps, miniskirt, slippers are not inappreopriate in school. No problem to wear those if you get out of the school to play. Dinner at night is formal? If so, wear 'more proper' that those in class.

Some dinners may be formal, but most will be a dressed-up casual.
