About:Chinese Embassy in U.K.

Hello,
I am in the process of being hired by a multi-national company in Hangzhou, China. The prospective employer told me it takes 20 business working days in order to get the work permit approved and then something about an invitation letter. With vague information she used the term "If approved", why wouldn't it get approved if I've provided all the necessary documents and how likely is it that I be denied the work permit, especially if the employer is multi-national (sheraton hotels). I would be appreciative if someone can tell me if the company provides the invite letter or if it is provided through another governmental agency, and if so, how long to expect that to get approved? Regarding the 20 business days, it has been 1 month now no word as of yet. Should I take the initiative to send an inquiry to the prospective employer for an update of the status for those documents or wait until the contact me via email?

Related offices are closed for Labor Day holiday now, and the processing of work permits do takes 20 working days. So, you can wait for few more days for their response. Please don't worry, with all required documents well prepared, your work permit will be approved.
